Finally, our technicians carry out a complete inspection and draw up a report before returning the operational unit to you.

Regular maintenance of AED defibrillators is essential

Although AED defibrillators perform internal self-tests, these are not always sufficient to detect electrode wear, arrhythmia detection reliability or the actual performance of the shock delivered.
In Switzerland, the Medical Devices Act (MedDO) requires operators to guarantee the continued functionality of such equipment.
In addition, Swissmedic’s Good Practice for Maintenance recommendations stress the importance of regular technical monitoring. Documented maintenance helps to meet legal obligations and enhance plant safety.

Tests performed during inspection

During each maintenance, our specialized technicians perform a complete examination of the unit. The protocol includes :

Arrhythmia detection simulation (coarse ventricular fibrillation (VFBC), fine ventricular fibrillation (VFBF), ventricular tachycardia (VTAC), atrial fibrillation (AFIB))
Simulator ECG test at different heart rates
Electric shock simulation and precise measurement of joules delivered
Check electrodes for condition and functionality
Battery check and charge rate measurement where possible
Extraction and storage of technical data, if available
Drafting of a report detailing the compliance of measured values with tolerances, as well as the condition of accessories and consumables

This process follows manufacturers’ recommendations and Swiss medical device requirements. It offers complete traceability and facilitates the planning of future controls.
