Why regular maintenance of AED defibrillators is essential

Although AED defibrillators perform self-tests, these do not detect electrode wear, nor do they guarantee correct arrhythmia detection or shock delivery performance. In Switzerland, medical device legislation (the Medical Devices Act and its MedDO ordinance) obliges operators to ensure the continued functionality of these devices. Swissmedic’s Good Practice for Instandhaltung also specifies the maintenance requirements to be followed

Rédaction d’un rapport détaillant la conformité des valeurs mesurées aux tolérances, ainsi que l’état des accessoires et consommables
