Description
The Philips Heartstart HS1 semi-automatic defibrillator is designed for simple, reliable operation. It’s a “mass-market” device that anyone canuse. Its compact design and ergonomic casing make it lightweight (1.5 kg). It is powered by a disposable (non-rechargeable) lithium manganese dioxide battery.
Easy-to-understand, detailed audio instructions guide the rescuer through the steps of emergency defibrillation and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
These instructions guide the user in calling for help, correctly applying the electrodes to the patient’s skin, and delivering the shock if necessary. What’s more, the user is guided to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) by pressing the flashing blue information button.
Versatile device
The Philips Heartstart HS1 is used not only for adult resuscitation, but also for children and newborns, via the connection of pediatric electrodes. Once the pediatric electrodes are inserted into the device, it automatically reduces the defibrillation energy from 150 Joules to 50 Joules and adapts CPR instructions accordingly.
Self-managed maintenance!
Daily, weekly and monthly self-tests enable all HeartStart HS1 components to be tested, as well as the delivery of a real-power internal test shock. As a result, the device requires no specific maintenance: a simple visual inspection and replacement of electrodes and batteries that have reached their expiration date is all that’s needed.
When the device detects a problem, it emits a loud beep. All the user has to do is press the flashing blue information button to find out the source of the problem.
The device is equipped with an infrared communication port for direct data transfer from the HeartStart HS1 to a computer.
Event history is recorded and stored in the defibrillator’s internal memory. What’s more, to consult it, simply press the blue information button, and the device lists the events that have occurred since the last clinical use.
