When the patient blows into the peak flow meter, a slider moves according to the strength of the breath. The EPD value can then be read off directly on a built-in scale. This value is compared with the normal theoretical PEF value, which depends on a number of factors. Such as height, age and gender. A low PEF may indicate respiratory problems (such as asthma or COPD), or inappropriate bronchodilator treatment.

It is important to note that PEF measurement alone is not sufficient to diagnose COPD. A diagnosis of this type also requires measurements of the forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1) and the Tiffeneau index (ratio of FEV1 to CV vital capacity). Which are obtained with an electronic spirometer, not a peak flow meter.

Data is easy to read and the flowmeter has 3 zones. It has a Peak Flow measurement range from 60 to 800 L/min.

This peak flow meter can be used for single or multiple adult patients. Cardboard end caps with 30 mm outer diameter are sold separately.
