Why regular maintenance of AED defibrillators is essential

Although AED defibrillators perform self-tests, these do not detect electrode wear, nor do they guarantee correct arrhythmia detection or shock delivery performance. In Switzerland, medical device legislation (the Medical Devices Act and its MedDO ordinance) obliges operators to ensure the continued functionality of these devices. Check electrodes for condition and functionality
Battery check and charge rate measurement where possible
Extraction and storage of technical data, if available
Drafting of a report detailing the compliance of measured values with tolerances, as well as the condition of accessories and consumables
